Purchasing and Supply Management
The goal of this course is to provide an in-depth understanding of the tasks, functions, processes, and relevant methods in procurement and supply management. Key topics covered in the course include procurement strategies, Procurement 4.0, resilience and sustainability, risk and performance measurement, and negotiation strategies.

For these courses, we implement a flipped classroom approach, which is supplemented by a portfolio assessment.
The flipped classroom approach is an innovative teaching method in which traditional teaching activities are reversed. Before class, students receive learning materials such as videos or texts, which they work through independently at home. During class time, students then deepen and apply their understanding by solving problems together, engaging in discussions, or working on projects. This method promotes active learning, individual adaptation, and interactive collaboration in the course. A major advantage is that students engage with the materials on their own terms, with flexibility in terms of location and time. Class time is then used to deepen their knowledge, ensuring that time spent in class and in the group is utilized effectively.

- understand traditional procurement processes and apply procurement strategies,
- assessing the potential and challenges of digital technologies in procurement,
- understand the need for organizational adjustments in procurement with regard to Industry 4.0, disruptive events, sustainability, and resilience,
- assess the contribution of procurement to the company, value-creation networks, and sustainable supply chains,
- address procurement issues independently and as part of a team, and present results in a manner tailored to the audience,
in order to adapt procurement to current and future challenges and highlight its strategic importance for companies and supply chains
The portfolio assessment accompanies this learning process throughout the entire semester. As part of this process, students produce several pieces of work (artifacts) during the course, which are created as part of assignments and serve to apply, deepen, and reflect on what they have learned. The portfolio is supplemented at the department by a final oral or written exam. The final grade is determined by the evaluation of all examination components. The specific structure of the portfolio assessment will be announced at the beginning of the semester in the respective course. The examination regulations are governed by the currently valid examination regulations.
