Introductory Study Module Logistics
This module highlights various areas of work and responsibilities in logistics. The course is jointly organized by all logistics departments within the Department of Mechanical Engineering. It provides an overview of the systems, tasks, and methods used in logistics. To this end, the course covers, among other things, typical logistics structures, problem areas, and day-to-day operations in the fields of intralogistics, production logistics, distribution logistics, and IT in logistics.

This course includes traditional lectures and exercises. The lectures will be conducted in sections by the FLW, LFO, ITL, and ITPL; the order and topics will be announced during the first session.
Upon completion of the course, students will be able to understand the systems approach in logistics and the interconnection of equipment, information, and material flows. They understand logistics as a cross-functional discipline spanning various business and economic sectors and demonstrate the high degree of interconnection among the equipment, systems, methods, and tools covered in the following logistics modules. Students will be able to identify, analyze, and evaluate various logistics systems and their components in terms of their potential applications. They will be able to distinguish between system components and, to some extent, identify strengths and weaknesses in real-world systems.
