On June 22, the big day finally arrived: our esteemed colleague passed his dissertation defense with flying colors. In his dissertation, he addressed the highly topical subject: “Combining Synthetic Data Generation and Machine Learning for Cost-Oriented Selection of Dynamic Order Quantity Methods”


A huge thank you goes to the distinguished examination committee that oversaw this process:
• Primary Examiner: Our department chair, Prof. Dr. Michael Henke
• Second examiner: Prof. Dr. Anne Meyer (former assistant professor at the LFO, now a professor at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT))
• Third examiner: Prof. Dr. Markus Pauly

After the official part of the ceremony, of course, we couldn’t skip the LFO tradition. There was the well-deserved (and legendary) doctoral cap, complete with a chief’s headdress, and a fitting toast with the entire team.

Dear Matthias, the entire LFO team is incredibly proud of you! Thank you for your tireless dedication over the past few years. We wish you all the best as you continue on your journey, both professionally and personally.
