From April 19 to 22, 2026, our team from the Purchasing and Supply Management research area was a guest at the 35th IPSERA conference in Helsinki. IPSERA (International Purchasing and Supply Education and Research Association) is one of the world's leading networks for the promotion of research and education in purchasing and supply management. It is a central point of contact for actively promoting international dialog between science and practice.

Under this year's motto "Less is more", the international community came together to discuss current challenges facing the industry. Prof. Michael Henke, Julian Brinkmeyer and Matthias Braun were on site to present two current research papers from our company.

Julian Brinkmeyer kicked things off with the joint paper "Exploring Learning Goals in PSM Organizations for Supply-Side Resilience: Evidence from Expert Interviews". In this paper, the team of authors explores the question of which specific learning goals organizations in procurement need to pursue in order to specifically strengthen their resilience to disruptions on the supplier side.

Another key topic was artificial intelligence: Matthias Braun then presented the paper "Interdisciplinary Perspectives on AI Use Cases in Purchasing and Supply Management: Insights from Scholars in Computer Science and Operations Research". The paper approaches AI use cases in purchasing from an interdisciplinary perspective and incorporates valuable assessments from the information systems community, including from the direct environment of the Lamarr Institute.

As every year, the conference offered a valuable platform for international exchange with scientists and practitioners. The intensive discussions, reunions with colleagues and the establishment of new contacts once again provided our team with important and inspiring impulses for future research work.
