To make strategic space expertise and risk forecasts even more tangible, Natalia Straub, Prema Maringanti, and Juan Pablo Garza traded their desks for the DLR School Lab in Dortmund.
Equipped with VR headsets, the small group took a virtual walk through the ISS. This simulation offered an impressive change of perspective: Standing virtually in the middle of space gives you a completely new sense of the extreme conditions, the severely limited space, and the enormous logistical challenges aboard a space station.
For research activities in the field of space logistics, the excursion was therefore far more than just a fascinating experience. The immersive experience provided tangible inspiration to better understand the abstract challenges of supply networks in space and to incorporate them into current research.
The LFO extends a special thank you to Sylvia Rückheim and her team at the DLR School Lab in Dortmund. Not only did they leave everyone in awe, but they also helped the researchers view the complex fields of space logistics from a completely new perspective.
