About the person
Univ.-Prof. Dr. habil. Dr. h. c. Michael Henke has been Head of Corporate Logistics at the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics IML since September 2013 and holds the Chair of Enterprise Logistics (LFO) at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at TU Dortmund University.
LUT University (Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology LUT) in Finland awarded Michael Henke an honorary doctorate in 2022 for his many years of commitment as Adjunct Professor for Supply Chain Management and the resulting collaboration. He has also been a Visiting Professor of Logistics at the Chinese-German University College (CDHK) at Tongji University in Shanghai, China, since 2019 and an Advisory Professor since 2022. In addition, he has been a visiting professor for Strategic Sourcing and Procurement at the Louvain School of Management at the Université Catholique de Louvain, Belgium, since 2018. Michael Henke is also spokesperson for the Mobility, Logistics, Aerospace Technology Network at acatech (German Academy of Science and Engineering) and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Open Logistics Foundation.
His research and teaching focus on purchasing, logistics and supply chain management. His research focuses on technology management and in particular AI management, blockchain and smart contracting as well as sustainability and resilience. Other key research areas are financial supply chain management and supply chain risk management, in which he is actively involved in international networks (e.g. he is a founding member and board member of the Supply Chain Finance Community (SCF)).
Michael Henke began his career with a degree in brewing and beverage technology engineering at the Technical University of Munich. He then completed his doctorate and habilitation at the department of economics there. During and after his habilitation, he worked for the Supply Management Group SMG in St. Gallen, among others. From 2007 to 2013, Michael Henke researched and taught as a professor at the EBS University of Business and Law.
