Sustainable logistics in the social sector: Optimization approaches for Diakonie's environmental workshops

The Diakonie environmental workshop in the Recklinghausen church district, with locations in Datteln, Recklinghausen and Herten, is actively committed to sustainability and social responsibility. At the three locations, Diakonie accepts donations of old clothes, household items and furniture and carries out regular collections. The overarching aim is to offer people with challenging biographies career prospects and introduce them to the job market.
We are looking for committed students for exciting final theses that deal with the logistical challenges of the social enterprise. In cooperation with the Chair of Enterprise Logistics, we offer you the opportunity to work on the following topics in your Bachelor's or Master's thesis:
- Analysis of current problems:
Identify existing challenges and develop concepts for optimizing logistical processes in social department stores.
- Increasing efficiency in transportation:
Work on solutions for more efficient management of transport and driving services.
- Sustainable value creation:
Deal with inclusive laundry sorting and design an ecologically and socially sustainable workspace for people with disabilities.
- Develop sustainable concepts:
Create a comprehensive concept that takes into account organizational (processes, standards), social (integration, support) and economic (calculation, revenue model) aspects - ideally with a pilot character and direct feasibility in the Recklinghausen-Süd workshop.
