How are practical insights into supply chain quality management, supply chain finance, and the current challenges in supply chain management connected? These were key topics in our master’s-level course on Corporate Logistics and SCM this summer semester.

Special thanks go to our industry partners, who have provided our students with valuable insights:

Many thanks to Jan Luca Wischewski (Westnetz GmbH) for the insights into the energy infrastructure. Especially in grid construction, where civil engineering costs account for around 80% of the total costs of cable and line projects, it becomes clear how crucial targeted internal and external supply chain quality management is for ensuring the security of this critical infrastructure sector.

Many thanks also to Anil Walia (Deutsche Bank) for the introduction to supply chain finance. The financial risks of all supply chain stakeholders play a central role in the resilience of value-added networks. This perspective is essential, even though operations and finance are often still viewed separately in practice.

We would also like to thank Christian Thüsing and Anna-Maria Bergrath (Vorwerk Group) for their insights into the BANI world (Brittle, Anxious, Non-linear, Incomprehensible), where instability and unpredictable events are increasingly becoming the norm in supply chain management. Particularly exciting was the focus on risk management beyond the Tier-1 supplier to better address risks along the entire supply chain.

This exchange with industry thus remains a central component of our teaching and an important bridge between research, academic study, and industrial application.
